An-Bang Wang received his B.Sc. (Mechanical Eng.) and M.Sc. (Power mechanical Eng.) from Cheng-Kung University and Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan, Republic of China (ROC), respectively. He served then as a mechanical officer at the arsenal, Combined Service Forces from 1981 to 1983. He was a mechanical engineer, project manager and head of the mechatronic department at the Sinotek Automation Company, Taiwan from 1983 to 1985.

He was awarded the Abroad-study scholarship of the Ministry of Education (MOE), Taiwan from 1985 to 1988. After then, he worked as a scientific researcher at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics, University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany and received the Dr.-Ing.-degree in 1991. He joined the Institute of Applied Mechanics, National Taiwan University (NTU) and then became a full professor in 2001. From 2002 to 2004, he served as the director of Optomechatronics Education Resource center, MOE, ROC. Since 2004 till now, he serves in advisory Boards for NTU’s Program of Photonics and Display Technology, Program of Polymer Science and Technology and Program of Optomachatronic Technology. After 2004, he also directs the National Education Program of Image and Display and is also counselor of the advisory office of MOE, ROC.

Prof. Wang has been a member of many international/domestic academic societies, such as American Physical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, Chinese Society of Engineers, ROC (life), Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, ROC (life), Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan etc. He served also as member of steering/organizing Committee in international/domestic conferences. He is reviewer of many international/domestic academic journals and grants agencies of government. Many students have awarded the best paper prizes in various competitions under his supervision. Constant international exchanges have been conducted as the tradition in his laboratory since many years. His current research interests include Precision Digital (Pattern) Coating Technology, Drop dynamics, Lab-on-a-chip & micro-fluidic systems, Display & Optomechatronic technology, and new measuring techniques.
